Cool 500 Miles / 19 Days In...My Favorite Things About My Q3 So Far

I just love this car SO much! I'm finding myself trying to think of somewhere to go so I can drive her again. I've now added a radar detector...you know, just in case.

I actually enjoy hand washing my car now. Although I realized over the weekend I need to get a telescoping spongy thing - I'm 5'10" but can't reach the whole roof. As I was washing and drying, it was very apparent that this vehicle is built with the good stuff. Quality everywhere, even in the tiniest little nooks. Rock solid. LOVE.

My favorite things so far about my Q:
- The steering wheel. Whatever that material is that they used, I LOVE it! It's so soft and comfy...I've never had a steering wheel like that before. AND it's so pretty. Love the Audi logo, and the silver accents. Dreamy.
- The shift knob. So pretty how they put the aluminum inlay surround there. It's fun to shift and pretty to look at.
- The dash. The controls are pretty, with the silver accents and design. SO glad Audi likes silver...my (former) Mazda had nothing but BLACK, and to make matters worse...RED accents. Bleh.
- Aluminum inlays...on the dash (accented with "Quattro" - nice touch!), on the doors...really soft and pretty.
- I've said it before, but the ambient lighting is FABULOUS. Around the speakers, in the cup holders, on the floor, in the doors...SWEET!
- The Bose stereo system. Heavenly. Can't say enough about it. Rich, full sound. Nicely done.
Photos attached.

Glad to hear that you're enjoying your new ride! Random driving trips on the weekends is a great way to explore the more rural areas and you get to drive your car! If it snows in your area in the winter, might I suggest your get a long snow brush too? I'm usually stuck with a snow mohawk every winter.

Ohhhhhh, if only I had the time for random weekend trips! Right now, my teenagers keep me hopping....but one day I'll have more time. (And I"m definitely NOT wishing my kids away, I adore them.)
And about the snow, I've never had a 4-wheel drive before, so I hope it snows a TON!! Within a couple of years I'll hopefully be relocating to the east coast where it snows like crazy. And happily, I have a garage at both home and work.

As we have not yet received our Q3 (it was unloaded from the ship in Houston this morning) I am curious to hear what you think of the MMI screen's inability to be retracted.

Does it seem odd the screen doesn't retract, or are you perfectly comfortable with it being in the "upright and locked" position?

My wife will be the primary operator of our Q3 (also coming from a Mazda), and I suspect she won't be bothered by the screen....

Oh, and although it's been panned by a many on this forum, she chose the wood inlay over the silver for her silver Q3 with the black interior. It's a choice I too would have made just for a little change to the "Oakland Raiders" interior color.

Who said it doesn't retract or fold down.

A number of us here made it so.

I for one prefer it to be like this, mine is with driver assist so as soon as I sit and put it in reverse I get the camera on screen. I do not want to wait for screen to come up first.

You make a good point, but of course those who must manually raise the screen will probably say they just open it when they get on board and close it when they arrive at their destination.

When I test drove the Lexus NX recently, it too has a screen that does not retract...and I had no problem with the appearance or functionality of the fixed screen with instant camera views.
