A couple weeks ago I was trying to remove the main battery cables so I could connect a trickle charger to the nut/bolt that secures the cables to the battery terminals.
But there's absolutely no slack in either cable, and while removing the nut from the connector of the hot cable, the square bolt head moved the lead from the cable connector, so there's no way to remove the cable from the battery terminal.
In addition, because the cables are so short, even if I could get them disconnected from the battery, the cable connector would block removal of the battery from the vehicle.
You can see I was able to remove the fastener from the ground cable but, like every video I've seen online of battery service, the connector is twisted because there's no slack in the cable to allow it to be removed.
So, how do people remove these two cable connectors when it's time to replace a battery?
