My 2016 Q3 got rear ended and the driver left, so now I'm left to claim my own insurance.

I received a copy of the supplement estimate from my insurance. I spoke to body shop that is Audi authorised and he said all of the parts came in except for the muffler which needs to be shipped in from Germany and the rear bumper cover tow hitch cut out cover. He said Audi updated the rear bumper cover to include a cut out for a tow hitch in case owners want to install one. Has anyone heard of that? My car did not come with a cut out so I have no clue what it would look like and if what he says is true that Audi no longer makes the bumper cover without the cut out.

He told me all of the parts are genuine Audi parts. The supplement listed the following items and parts number. Can someone advise if these are genuine parts? I'm not sure if the original estimate (from the insurance adjuster) listed other parts since I don't have a copy with me, but if I remember correctly, he only quoted replacing the inner trim and everything else was repair. Looks like they will repair the upper bumper cover, and replace the lower portion of the bumper cover.

Inner trim 8U0807823A4U8
Lower cover 8U0807434NGRU
Resonator and pipe AWD 8U0253609AA
Resonator and pipe clamp 1K0253141T
LT backup lamp assy 8U0945095C

All those P/Ns look legitimate to me - at least I can them in Audi ETKA ...
Best way for me to get the EXACT P/Ns for your car is to have its VIN - you can PM me if you want me to really verify -

I don't have the vin number with me.

Do you know if Audi updated the rear bumper cover to include a cut out for a tow hitch? I prefer the identical bumper cover that came with my car, but was told Audi changed the design and only carry the new version with the cut out.

I see at least 4 different bumper covers, and would still need to have your VIN to see what your car came with versus what's still available ...

I don't have my vin, but asked the dealer to look up my car. They said my car is pre-wired and configured for a hitch if I wanted to install one. So the bumper that came with my car should have a cut out. I've never seen the cut out on my car, but maybe I didn't know the Q3 had the option and never paid attention.

Anyone knows if a hitch package is available for North America? Would the bumper have a cut out? I'm still waiting for the body shop to return my call to verify if my bumper had the cut out it not, and if they ordered the right part. According to the insurance claim rep, the cover plate alone is $250. I can't imagine someone stealing the piece and I have to pay out of my pocket for the replacement.

Received a call from the shop that the upper bumper will be replaced as well. Looks like everything that's damaged will be replaced now.

I also received a photo of the bumper with the cut out. The cut out is on the underside, and is bolted on from the back.

For those of us that purchased their Q3 in 2015 and would like to have a trailer hitch installed to use a bike rack, what's the current status? Should I go to my local bike rack specialist and ask them?
