Hi All,

First post here! My wife got a Q3 last Friday. I was so impressed with it that I bought one this Friday! We are now a two Q3 family!! Does that make us Q6? Q9? Something else?

Hers: 2016 Q3 Prestige, Cortina White, Chestnut Leather, Brown Inlays, All Weather Mats.

Mine: 2016 Q3 Prestige, Glacier White Metallic, Chestnut Leather Brown Inlays, Sport Package, All Weather Mats, All Weather Cargo Mat.

Yes....we have almost the exact same car...

I am still learning about them both and enjoying mine very much. I had an initial drive of 2 hours home from the dealer today and I averaged over 30 MPG for the trip. Call me impressed.:nerd:

I will be posting some pictures as well as some questions about some of the workings of the Q3. This is our first & second Audi after 20 years of Japanese makes so there are certainly some differences.

Also happy to answer any questions you might have about the 2016.

Thanks so much!
John

Thank you Roger. Very excited and unexpected at the same time.

Dealer told me I could not synch up the temp controls. :(

I read the manual and found the solution!

On to other learning now!

Whoa, isn't that considered cheating...? >:D

Welcome to the forum, John. We'll be picking up my wife's Q3 in a couple of weeks after ordering it in mid-June, but after the stock market crashing over the last couple of days, we probably won't more than one.....instead we'll buying some stocks that are finally affordable.

Looking forward to learn what other tidbits you can find in that manual.....

Here is a new one!

There is a setting for the wipers, used for when you replace a blade, that is also useful for when you wash/windex the windshield. The setting pops the blades up to halfway so you can fold them back out of the way. Before I read this, I was manually lifting them upward then folding them back in order to clean the windshield. If you don't so this, the blades have no clearance from the hood so you should/must use the feature. You activate it by turning off the ignition, then moving the wiper stalk down one position and the blades pop up! Clean the windshield, then when you start the car and move the stalk back, the wipers return the off position. Pg 46 in the manual.

Pretty cool. Our Lexus worked similarly but you manually moved the wipers to a new position. It always felt like I was going to break it!

The downside is that you clean the windshield, then the blades rub against it when returning to their down position so I end up cleaning over that part. It could be user error or OCD.....

Thanks, John

You must have REALLY liked the first Q3 to purchase almost exactly the same for yourself! I like my Q3 but if I had the chance to purchase another compact SUV or Crossover for the family, I would have gone with Lexus NX or BMW 1 etc just to mix it up!

Q3 x 2 ... I was thinking, maybe that equals Q6? LOL

Turns out you bought two of them! Cool. Can you tell a big difference between the two different shades of white when they are parked next to each other?

I will get them next to each other and take a picture and post it.
I thought the Glacier White had more 'pearl' in it but it does not, sadly for me. The metallic is fine with it is really a very PURE WHITE so the metallic is quite faint to my eyes. The Cortina now looks a little less pure white with a hint of pearl in it compared to the Glacier. So in effect, I wish I had the Cortina too but the Glacier was my option. sight unseen. My wife is not keen on switching....:x

I have an Odyssey in White Diamond Pearl and that is my favorite color. Both of the Q3s are way more WHITE than my Diamond Pearl.

We crosshopped all of the options. The NX is nice but my wife was tired of Lexus after 10 years. The BMW and MB were more expensive and not as nice plus you have the ala carte pricing for every option (and I love every gadget I can get) which just kept pushing the price up to a level that did not make sense. Then there is the styling of the Q3 - it is by the best looking by far of those vehicles to my and my wife's eyes. All in, it is a win win for both of us.

Here are some pictures of the first Q3 - Cortina White. Not the best but something to get it started.

Thanks, John

The fading light plays some tricks. In actual view - without direct sunlight, they look exactly the same.
I suspect, and hope someone with the Audi-Fu, can confirm: I believe the paint base is exactly the same between the two paints with the Glacier just has some metallic in it.

Thanks, John

Final set of pictures shows all the horses in the stable! You can see how the Honda's White Diamond Pearl is way more "pearly" than the Audi - which are much more 'appliance" white. I love them both but the WDP on the Honda is by far my most favorite car color. I would love if Audi offered a more pearl white option in the future. Maybe on a SQ3??? >:D

Thanks for viewing!
