Hi, New to the forum. Just bought a UK spec 2013 2.0 Tdi Quattro for my wife and I wanted to ask if anyone knows if you can use a battery charger/maintainer through the cigarette lighter socket in the Q3?
I have both a Porsche Charge-O-matt charger and the CTEK Multi MXS units, The Porsche unit terminates in only a cigarette lighter plug, and is easy for her to plug in and leave when we are away etc. So question is, can I condition the battery on trickle charge through the lighter socket, or is it switched off when ignition is off?
Or would I have to open the bonnet and get at the battery to leave the car on maintenance charge? Cheers....

So t believe this will work at the socket powers down with ignition. If this is your preferred method, you could always rewire it.

You can also wire a quick disconnect right to the battery and hide the plug at the grill opening so it's out of site. Actually better than playing with the socket.

Without pressing the Start/Stop button, i.e. car is turned off (no aux power), if you push the lighter in does it heat up and pop out, if so you have power there and you probably could trickle charge it through that.

Hi Guys, Thanks for the info, I will try the lighter socket without the ignition on and see what happens. It will be so much more user friendly if charging is possible through the socket, rather than installing a QD cable behind the front grill. I note that the official UK accessory shop AUDI battery charger terminates in two crocodile style clips, so not hopeful that the cigarette lighter socket method will work.....
