It's a VERY expensive (~USD2K) retrofit proposition ...
thanks Roger!! I hope the itch in my mind goes away.
if you have the details, please pass on
I could find on the internet ....they say plug and play but I m not sure...

If anyone has any experience using this naviplayer, please post
Roger, I have a 2015 Q3 with Nav, etc. Is the upgrade still $2K or is it a firmware upgrade only that might be less expensive?
That CarNaviPlayer looks very cool. I wonder if it really works, and if the nav is any good, and/or current.
Yeah, I would like to hear some opinions about CarNaviPlayer from somebody that owns one. I called my mate from DSRLeasing if he could get me some info on it, but he couldn't. Would love to hear somebody's opinion on it!
Similar situation here... 2016 q3 with nav and wifi and all that stuff, but want to do 2 things (and i am not a car person, so forgive my stupidity)
1. upgrade the speakers and sound system, but since my go to crutchfield hasnt researched what options would work with my car, don't know what I can buy that would fit/work
2. change the firmware or software or whole unit with a dash kit to something that would support Android Auto.

Can I do anything? As far as firmware, to check it is it as simple as finding out what the current version is (where?) and then downloading it and putting it in the SIM card slot or hooking it up somehow to the iphone cable in center console?

any tips or pointers in the right diretion to where I can find these and more options to update my awesome new car! Thanks!

Unfortunately it's NOT so easy or cheap - at least 3 parts need to be changed, will cost about $1500 and require some new coding too ;-(
Yeah, not sure if you really need this carplay feature. My buddy from DSRLeasing has it, not that it's something that he really needs and it will cost a bit.
rsnav.com has an Android based system for the Q3, plug-n-play, that replaces the dash LCD with an touch screen, with Nav, that can do CarPlay and Android Auto (with some third party App), for under $600. I am tempted.....

I just ordered the 8 inch touchscreen Q3 Android Nav unit from RS Nav....the sale price got me over the edge....I will post my install and user impressions......
ooooh, I am interested - a sale price today is tomorrow's normal price in electronics ...

Update : Pooh - just saw that these are ONLY for cars without factory Nav - I have Nav - Can't use !!!
