The kids love 'em, and they're comfortable. Go figure. Now slap a logo on a designer handbag and you have my interest.
I'll admit, using an established brand like Toms (i see folks wearing them all the time) and rebranding was a good way to go.

Who knows they might partner up with Michael Kors.

One thing for sure, eyeglasses will or already is what they offer. Many car makers already do anyways.

TOMs are pretty popular shoes. Great summer shoes to wear with no socks. TOMs promises to give shoes to kids in poor countries when you buy a pair in a rich country. So I guess Audi is trying to join in and now when you buy an Audi some kids get some shoes. Doesn't quite seem like the same shoe-for-shoe deal as before. Maybe Audi should give cars to people instead of partnering with TOMs.

Just not my taste in shoes.

Puma, for example would be great, but being a brand BMW is with it's not likely a brand Audi would approach.
I agree that PUMA would have matched better with Audi. Who knows why they chose Toms. Perhaps they are aiming at younger folks. Toms is a brand that has a bit of a younger clientèle.

Oh, I'd kill someone for their marketing budget. Shoes, bags, hipster dance parties. Let the good times roll!
I'm not sure if Audi paid for the TOMs shoes. I'm sure that TOMs is happy to get the publicity. Just a mutually beneficial thing, though I suppose TOMs has to make some money or else they'd be giving away a lot of shoes while Audi actually is selling cars.

Could very well be the case that TOM's approached Audi about it, and even other shoe brands, even brands that offer other types of wearables.

Saw another article on this from BBC, so I thought that I would post it up here.

Audi has partnered with Toms, the California-based maker of the ever-more-trendy slip-ons, to produce an exclusive design in gray canvas stitched with red thread, and sporting Audi's four rings on a discreet tag and in the pattern of the lining. These special-edition soles are available only to those who buy or lease during the Summer of Audi sales event — but those new owners won’t be the only one getting a pair of Toms. As part of the collaboration, 55,000 pairs will be given to children in need. The program is an extension of the shoemaker's One for One program, which has given away more than 10m pairs of shoes to needy recipients in more than 70 countries.
