Hi folks - loving my Q3. I have a question for you folks: which audio cable did you get? I received one with a 30pin adapter - which is for the iPhone 4 and older. When I asked about the lightning connector (which has been the Apple standard for 3 years) the dealer told me that the Q3 didn't come with that cable - only the older one. I'm finding this a little hard to believe.

What have others seen?

Sorry but true. I think the facelift cars will come with a lightning connector, but remember it's an Apple proprietrary interface to include the DTA convertor, which may be why it wasn't included before and may still not be ...

Just an opinion here but I would think that Audi or the dealer should just ask which you have and supply either with the new car... Personally I dont use mine (another sign of age) but I would think that the majority of people would have a preference.... Again just an opinion but I think that could do better in this area...

I agree. It would have been a nice touch to just ask new buyers which they preferred. It can't be too challenging to have a box of them at the dealership.

I have an iPhone 6 Plus and opted to not buy the $80 cable. I didn't really want my phone in the center console anyway. What I did instead put in a flush-mount dual-USB cigarette lighter adapter in the rear 9volt, and ran the cables up to the front between the seats. It looks tidy, and my husband and I can both charge in the car. I use bluetooth to stream music. The cables hide between the seat and the center console when I don't need them.

30 pin to lighting connector

I too bought the 30 pin to lightning connector adapter. That didn't fit my iphone case. Then I bought the same thing except this had a short cord which looked a bit longer. That didn't fit the phone with the case.

I know I can plug it into the lighter using my USB cord but I really wanted to control my iphone thru the MMI. I don't know about anyone else but I can't find anything else that makes the lightning connector a bit longer so it fits into the phone case. Funny though, the cord that the iphone 6 comes with fits into the phone with the case on. Why can't someone make a plug that's the exact width of that one?

Any suggestions anyone? I would gladly spend the money for an Iphone MMI cable but the lightning plug is very, very short and it won't fit into the phone with the case at all.

I got the 30 pin to lightning converter cable from apple as well, but like you said; it's very short. Although I kinda like that it's short; phone stays out of sight while driving.

Has anyone else had this happen before:

There's times were I'll be streaming music via bluetooth and I then connect the phone to the cable and the music stops; I get a message on the screen prompting for me to terminate either the phone from the cable connection or the bluetooth streaming. I just switch to either FM or AM and go back to media again and it resumes playing.... Ha!

What does the cable get you anyway?

I just picked my Q3 last week and I got a 30 pin too. I don't have NAV and I use bluetooth to both stream Pandora and use the phone through the car. Question is what would the cable do for me anyway if I spent $80 for one?

Funny, my Q3 came with the lightening cord (center console) and the homelink, which my sales guy said he's seen neither before in any Q3.

On a side note, I wish they made the cord longer, it's virtually unusable....
