Car cover for Q3?

6524 Views 13 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  FourCircle
Since my car will be sitting at the lot of the dealer until End of July, I thought it would be ideal to purchase an outdoor car cover and have the dealer cover it up.

However, I don't see any cover for Q3 at audiusa.com

Does anyone have an outdoor car cover for Q3 and its parts/accessory number?

There's an OEM cover that I don't know the weather-spec for, P/N 8U0 061 205; MSRP $477 available in the U.S. The Audi covers are usually custom fit nice-indoor type covers, but a few are made of decent outdoor fabrics, so you'd have to inquire for further detail.

Thanks Roger!

I'm going to ask the dealer if they have an Outdoor cover for Q3 and if not I will purchase one from Carid and have it shipped there directly.
Do you care if it is OEM, or could it be aftermarket?

You could try carid.com and see if they have something that would fit your preferences.

Yeah, I ordered a Covercraft Evolution car cover from CARiD... The problem is, it's going to be shipped out on May 25th since it has to be custom-made to fit specific make and model.

I guess I will have to wait till 25th to get that car covered in the lot... :crying:

I hope early summer sun for the next 3 weeks doesn't damage the car too much.
Does the type of fabric used that touches the paint matter to you at all?

I know some guys are very particular about that as some materials that aren't soft touch can leave little scratches.
Same thing i'm really interested in knowing. I would hope they would design the cover to have delicate fabric on the inside for the paint and heavy duty fabric on the outside for outdoor weather protection. But that only being logical. Maybe the weather proof fabric itself doesn't have an affect on the paint.

I'm sure Audi makes their vehicles to endure more than 3 weeks of summer sun, so I don't think you have too much to worry about.

You have to pay attention to the details... The cover with "delicate fabric on the inside" will not be the cheapie one... It will be the more expensive one....

I just checked Covercraft Evolution description and it specifies:

"Soft-to-Paint Inner Layer – Bi-component technology blends polyethylene for softness and polypropylene for strength to assure gentle protection for paint finishes (inner layer is gray)."

Which I'm pleased to see, after reading your post about the cover leaving scratches. Thankfully, my car is white and small scratches will be less visible.
Thanks a lot for checking with them.

It might also help to note that searching automotive detailing forums for recommended fabrics will be the best way to ensure you get what the pros would.

They might cost a lot, but in my opinion, it's worth the investment.

Keep us in the loop when you receive your Covercraft Evolution car cover. Would like to know what you think of it and if it worth it. I really need one for my car as well. How pricey are they anyways?

I had it sent directly to the dealership to have it covering my Q3 until I take delivery in July so I won't have any idea how good it is until then. I chose Evolution because it had "Best" UV protection. It claims to have good breath-ability so I expect it to let out moisture after a day or two of rain followed by sunny days.

I was $206.63 plus shipping (it was on weekend sale). It's back up to $259.70 plus shipping at CARiD.
Alright. Thanks so much for the info! Most likely gonna buy one myself. Much needed where I live because the suns always blazing!
