On yotube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1z79BruQr8Q can you see a Audi Q3 that have installed DIY Audi Individual Drive Select without so button. So i searched the internet and found a tutorial how to activate it ( http://www.audienthusiasts.com/VagCom_FL_ADS.html )but i think is for Audi A4. But i couldn't activate it the are some problems, maybe someone can help me.
First of all you activate you activate the Hidden Menu (Green Menu) i have Navigation RMC :
Select 56 Radio
Adaptation 10
Channels Number 5
Set it to 1
If you have MMI cu change channel 6 to 1
This worked fine i now have the Green Menu activated, you enter it by pressing : car + menu
Now the problem here is that i must find in this hidden menu something called Charisma and activate it, unfortunately i dint`t find it. I decided to continue.
You will then proceed to the Select Control Module window and select the “09-Cent. Elect.” option:
From the Open Controller you need to change some bits and this is done under the “Coding – 07” option:
The Recode Module will pop-up and you will need to click on “Long Coding Helper” to make the necessary changes to the bits:
The Long Coding Window will pop-up and “Byte 7” will be the first that require a change (you can use the tab or up/down arrow to move between Bytes.)
Byte “7”, Bit “5”, needs to be changed from a “0” to “1”
Byte “8”, Bit “2”, needs to be changed from a “0” to “1”:
Byte “17”, Bit “7”, needs to be changed from a “0” to “1”:
You will then be brought back to the Recode Module window, were you need to click on “Do It!” after a few seconds a pop-up window will indicate the changes have been applied, click “OK”:
The Open Controller window will now be displayed. For the following change you will need security access from the “Security Access – 16” menu:
The Security Access window will now be displayed were you need to input the security access code to make the Adaptation changes required in the next step.
If you roll the mouse pointer over the input box, an information bubble will be displayed with your own unique code. In my case it was “20113”, input that same number in the box then click on “Do It!”
System will close the window and go back to the Open Controller menu. Here you need to select the “Adaptation -10” option:
In the Adaptation sub-menu you will need to make changes to the following channels:
 63 - New value 4 – Click “Test” and “Save”
 64 - New value 4 – Click “Test” and “Save”
 65 - New value 4 – Click “Test” and “Save”
 66 - New value 4 – Click “Test” and “Save”
Now click on “Done, Go Back”
This will complete all the necessary changes needed to enable the Audi Individual Drive Select.
If you now navigate in your MMI - Car Menu you will notice the following option displayed:

The problem is that i din`t find anything that is mentioned above.

Please if anybody knows what to do, help please

First - welcome to the forum - glad you're here asking questions - maybe we can help. You cannot 'activate' Charisma in the green menu unless you have the control module physically installed. I think it's 10 Park/Steer Assist, which piggybacks onto the 09 Central Electric module and/or 44 Steering Assist. You'll see 4 sub-options on the green menu under Charisma, but they'll be grayed out and therefore un-selectable. Second, the rest of the description above is for use in coding thru VAS or VCDS, the separate cable/program from Audi or Ross-Tech, respectively. Third, Audi VAS uses SVM software pre-programs and will not likely code anything until the hardware is there. You MAY find limited coding ability with VCDS (as noted above, and the reference article from whence this came in A5OC) but again, not the entire Drive Select menu could be available at all, or in MMI if you could code it.

I think since that article came out, Audi has further restricted this for "simple" coding to prevent folks from dodging the option in the first place by requiring the control module BEFORE any subsequent coding could have affect - even though MOST of the Drive Select options are software controlled on this platform (unlike others, e.g. B, C & D platforms, where more advanced Drive Select modes/hardware i.e. MagShocks, are implemented).

That means if the car (Q3 in this case) doesn't come with Drive Select from the factory, VCDS mod won't able to "enable" it, correct?

Speaking of VCDS mods, let's say some values were changed and then later reverted back to the original values, will the dealership and/or Audi able to tell something has changed? If so, will they get annoyed by this or maybe even affect warranty?

But you saw the Video ? The coding is possible, but how ? I have Ross-Tech cable and software 14.10 HEX+CAN this in not good for this coding ? My Audi Q3 is from October 2011, i hope maybe they didn`t restrict it.
I`am sure there must be a way activate it or maybe how can i retrofit it. Because this drive select i think it is all from the software / computer it is not a installed module or how i read from some forums is from the button itself.
I think that tutorial is for Audi A4 and someone who knows very good VCDS can make it work for Audi Q3 also :)

For Example when coding : 09 Centrl. Electric on byte 7 i don`t have it is on byte 8.
On byte 8 i have bit 6 i have Driver Information System, but when i select it and do the coding everything is ok. When i enter to see if the bit is checked, the bit is unchecked. Why dont`t it be checked ?

I saw the video - but I don't speak or understand Russian - and I am an experienced VCDS user, and I can tell you clearly that the Q3 has NOT been able to be coded so far as I know (and I have read several attempts) to inherit Drive Select just with coding. The video does not seem to show the whole works, or it is not obvious to me.

I believe there IS a piece of hardware required beyond the dashboard switch (but it may actually be a chip-module incorporated into it) - The reason you don't see the bytes in VCDS IS BECAUSE that Charisma setting in the green menu is NOT selected. This is where MMI is told what is physically installed into the car AND coded into the CAN BUS via VAS or VCDS.

Further in VAS or VCDS, regardless the attempt to change the coding - i.e. checking the box or byte value or even adaptation - if there's no module to take the coding, it won't be there afterwards. Lastly, there are NO responses to that video giving ANY other supporting info or directions - so I cannot have faith that it is a real case of success. Sorry - just my opinion. I would LOVE to be corrected...

I have also consulted with a Ross-Tech software specialist and am waiting on his reply. If I am wrong and this can be coded, he'll know ...

rnlabas have you got any answer from the Ross-Tech software specialist ? Do you think if i buy the ADS button and cables the can i eneabled it ? Can you help me with the codes for the buttons and cconecting cables, and with the codding ?
Thank you !

No news yet, but I've been out of the country for a few weeks - let me check.

Litchi and all,

I wrote in the message box at the audi-rus.ru site and received a response within 30 mins. These was even a tel number for the guy. I called and spoke with him. Unfortunately he cant help remotely - needs the car. Anyhow, maybe you guys didnt have any luck with him because you wrote in English? IDK

I have also bought the button for drive select, but still doesn`t works. Can somebody give me please the VIN of an Audi Q3 that hast installed drive select from factory, because i think i need to buy the cable that comes from the button to the car and i cannot find it to buy it if i don`t have the proper VIN.
Thank You.

I'm not particularly impressed. No one who hasn't driven this/these car(s) can testify that a simple menu makes Drive Select actually work. I'm not sure that all the hardware is there by default although I'm sure some is, but the nature of steering for example may not be. Throttle response and transmissions shift points may be simply software, but that's just not all there is to Drive Select. If this was so easy, I'd think at least the Germans and surely the Americans would have cracked this too ...

I really don't know, but remain open minded while wary -

Hello, I'm the owner of the car depicted in the movie, a brand new Audi Q3 quattro TDI STronic.
I retrofitted ADS using an ELM327 USB and it works very fine.
Impressive the Dynamic setup for response of engine and stearing, nice the Efficiency setup for saving fuel.

GREAT !!! Welcome to the forum - we're SO glad to have you. Can you list the exact long coding requirements (and for which controllers) for us to follow using VCDS - Please. I do wonder though if the TDI has some existing modules that the gasoline engined cars may not - that could allow this...

I will introduce myself briefly
I'm from Brazil and recently acquired an Audi Q3 2015 1.4L. Like forum audiq3forum made some successful changes thanks the information of several dedicated members, and I am grateful for that.
But I'm very happy with what tigerlux said, I go several times a day in the forum to know if you have news about the topic Audi Drive Select it would be able to turn over this feature in my car.
I hope to help

Let's go to work.
Here some details about the car.
Q3 TFSI 150cv (8UGAKX + WFS + 6XE + CI1)
Engine: 1.4L Gasoline (J623-CZDA)
Cambio: DSG AG6
Made in Spain

I will try to explain from the VCDS images.
Entering (55-Headlight Range)
We started in (ADAPTATION - 10)

Upon entering found the following channel (LWR_Control_Strategy_Selectiron_Development = Dynamic, Charisma, Auto, Comfort)
The pattern of manufactures it comes as (AUTO).

I put the password to gain permission to change.

When I try to change it to Dynamic, Charisma, Auto, Comfort does not authorize access.

But I found that when I live in (Coding - 07) (Byte 6) (bit7 = Charism PR-2H6 installed)

It automatically changes (LWR_Control_Strategy_Selectiron_Development) to (CHARISMA).

But still not change to other modes even putting the password 20103.

My experience.
When I enable (Coding - 07) (Byte 6) (bit7 = Charism PR-2H6 installed) the car is clearly more economic and it reaches 10% increase in the autonomy of the stretch that I do every day.
The upshift is between 1500rpm - 1800rpm on level ground.
With (Charism PR-2H6) disabled as it comes from the factory upshift is between 2000rpm - 2200rpm on level ground.
I believe that these parameter settings are linked with Audi drive select

Now comes the questions.
I wonder if there are passwords that can try to force change?
I'm going the right way or am I doing silly?
Like the opnion of you.

I hope I was clear and collaborated with all
Thank you.

WOW - thanks for sharing - although I cannot see any of the pics, so the links must be broken or busy - I wonder why you start in 55- HEADLIGHT RANGE for Drive Select as it does not affect anything from or to that control module. As for trying other codes to gain access, I do NOT know. Usually any code that unlocks or allows Channel Access (when it is secured) allows ALL access. Other codes should not necessarily allow you to "force change." I DO believe that Charisma is Audi-speak for Drive Select as enabled (at least in the green screen), so it looks like you're on a right track of sorts. As for silly or not - you ARE in an area where wrong things can happen, so I'd just be careful to note what you change, and what behavior that creates. I can't say for certain it's safe or not. The folks that claim to have done this successfully have provided really very little real, supporting evidence of their code work - a short audio-clipped YOUTube video does not proof make it for me, especially when easy, real and repeatable documentation for any of these kinds of changes is not so difficult to document if true. For this, I wish tigerlux would come back and give us the details, step by step like we show in our posts or even like what you're trying - tigerlux??? any more help ?

Sorry guys, I cant help you cause I didn't use Vag cable to unlock ADS. How I told I used an ELM 327 and injected the retrofit using a specific software developed by some russian guys. For sure I know there is a long coding on 5F and some adaptation on 55 and 44. I did a mistake because a didn't collect, in advance, all adaptation config for all modules. [emoji29]

Is it possible for you to get a SCAN of your car on either VAS (from Audi) or VCDS from someone who has the program? I can possibly reverse-engineer the code - especially if your scan includes label files (see R-T's website for instructions on how to get these) for each control module. There seems to be enough interest to doing this that it would be very helpful - and this forum would certainly appreciate it ...

Problem Resolved. ADS installed on my Q3 :)
Now Audi Dealers sells the Retrofit. Just ask for the code : 8U0 063 765 at your local Audi dealer. They will provide for you retrofit based on VIN, it just 3 codes that they will put in there computer and will install it. You can olso buy the button from them. The price differs from country to country.

CAREFUL - many codes are similar or even the same between models - BUT THAT does NOT mean they all are. Some can be trial and error with no harm, but that too is NOT necessarily true either...

Roger: I hear you on that! Hoped that someone with a little more know-how and technical expertise would give it a try! Still hoping! :)

liy -

This again is for the B8 (A4 - A5) NOT necessarily exactly to the Q3 - So I would be both wary and careful trying these. Also, note what he says - don't try adding code for hardware not present as it won't work and could cause errors - THAT's good advice. As I said in the first set of posts on this in response to THIS code data - don't expect the same results for/from a Q3 as an A4 or A5. Some may work, or not and errors could result. Same recommendation today - look at litchie's post in search of this (the next day after he thought all was wonderful) ... he's now in a serious pickle -
