Hi Everyone! New to the forum and first post.

Have a 16' in Cortina white coming soon and was wondering if Audi has door edge trim available for it that's color matched (couldn't find anything online) or if anyone installed anything that of good quality.

I'm a fan of body side molding and kills me that the car has none with all the discourteous people that like to bump your doors (even though we are all careful)...so having some door edge protection will also put me at ease.

Also...was looking to get the dealer to install the mud guards before delivery. There are some pics out there and wanted to ask anyone who may have them to chime in on the looks. Seems they stick out a bit and not very attractive looking. Any thoughts?

Appreciate the help!

Hey - Welcome to the forum - hope you come back for more info and sharing. I have NOT seen any side molding kits or know of any factory pieces for that kind of protection, so I hope some others that may have chime in. As for the mud flaps, several folks here have them and have some pics of them installed so some searching will turn them up. IMHO they do not either look very good or work too well - but I'll let those that have them speak for the latter. And you can make your own choice for the former ...

Glad you found us - post some pics of your car -we love pics -

I'll respectfully disagree with Roger on the look of door guards on any car as long as it is matching the color of the vehicle. I too was looking for those. But with respect to body side molding, I do know its benefits as my Volvo had it from the factory; but in the Volvo case. For the Q3, I wouldn't want it, it'd ruin the lines, imo.

As far as mud guards ... that's funny, because I never thought about it and with this car -- my 1st white car I thought it'd matter -- but after 6 weeks and in the confused Winter weather (that feels like Spring/Autumn/Winter temps so far) I hardly noticed the kick-up of retained dirt on the bottom.

Hey I'm never a mind for a respectful disagreement with anything I opine on, but my comment was specifically directed at the mud flaps NOT the door guards ... ;)

These guys seem to sell edge guards in different colors. From looking around, its seems the "Cowles" brand seems to be one of the better ones. I ordered the color chart from them (free) and I'll see if it matches up when I get the car next week. Keep you all posted!

Would anyone that has Mud Flaps on their car mind posting a couple of pictures with how they look on the Q3?

Msantram, I believe that if you take a couple of minutes and check out the various garages on the site that you will see them....

Yes, good idea Ohio Joe, thx. I looked at some images, but was not able to see the flaps with enough clarity. But yes, I posted too quickly before looking. :)

Here you go....courtesy of boblepp in Ontario:
Thx DampDuffer! These pictures are exactly what I wanted to see. Did these come on the car when you bought the car from the dealer or did you buy the mudflaps after taking delivery and install? So far I am only able to see 2013-2015 Model Year part numbers. Not sure if these changed with the 2016 refresh. Thx again.

p.s. thx BobLepp!

I concur @ralfo. These mudflaps appear top be the right size.

I have found that the usefulness of mudflaps is most felt whilst washing the car, especially in the winter. So much less mud, dirt, and stone damage with which to contend.

msantram....I simply searched the forum to find the pictures for you....I do not have flaps on my (wife's) car.

boblepp is a contributor to this forum who originally posted the pictures. Here's the link to the thread: http://www.audiq3forum.com/forum/289-audi-q3-general-discussion/6378-splash-guards-q3.html.

You can probably pm boblepp to get your questions answered.
Glad to help....it's what Roger has taught us to. :)

Keep in mind that the flaps are made for the base car and that at the rears MAY not fit S-line cars (different rear bumper) ... Someone would need to verify as I have seen this problem on other Audis -

I ^ think that is the exact issue Roger. Honestly the only way I will know if I need to modify the rear flaps is by dry fitting them. Good tip, thx.
