Hey all; glad to be here. :)

I'm David in Louisiana. In October I bought my third new Audi.

My car history beginning with my first Audi:

1981: New Audi 4000 4dr, FWD automatic, dark copper color. Loved it for 100Kmi.
1987: New Mk2 Golf, metallic grey, automatic FWD. Found this one languishing on the dealer's back lot, equipped only with automatic, sunroof and A/C. Had a great time outfitting it with a Denon stereo, Momo steering wheel and MSW rims. Loved it for 115Kmi.
1996: Went to the dark side with a new BMW 318ti hatchback, automatic black base model. Loved it for 100Kmi.
2004: Back to Audi with a new A4, dark blue automatic FWD. In spite of its troublesome CVT that was replaced under a class action lawsuit, loved it for 100Kmi (see a trend here?).
2013: Found a like-new 1997 BMW 318ti, dark blue automatic in an estate sale with only 39Kmi. Could not pass it up. Drove it 25Kmi and sold it to a collector.
2017: Back to Audi yet again! New Q3 FWD Premium, Monsoon Grey. Enjoying it and expect to...well, you know.

Looking forward to participating in the forums.

Tnx for the good wishes. I agree. Red would have been nice, and so would white. Had the car I sought been any of those three colors I would have gone for it.

Like with the 1987 Golf I was delighted to find a base Q3 not tricked out with unneeded options, and Monsoon Grey brought a feeling of nostalgia for that Golf. Living in the South I really don't need quattro, and a base Audi of any model is more than comfortable for long distance driving. I was glad to see Audi return to the Tiptronic for FWD as well as quattro.

Your father-in-law is/was very wise. I shall follow his advice. :)
