Hi,

I have not yet committed to a Q3, but I have been checking them out at nearby dealers.

The Q3 has one feature that is vital to me, it is fairly narrow. Both of my current cars are 69 inches wide and fit in my 20s era detached garage. But the car on the right is a convertible with a huge door that when open to the first detent leaves about 4 inches between my cars. So I figure I’ve got about a 73 inch width limit.

I currently own two German cars so I know I want another one. I’ve checked out the BMW X1 which is OK except for the sound of the 4 cylinder engine, horrible. The MB GLA doesn’t appeal to me at all. I am anxiously awaiting the VW Golf Sportwagen which should be available in a couple of months. The VW Tiguan is looking old in the tooth whereas the Q3 doesn’t.

I am hoping to get more information regarding the 2016 Q3 to see if it corrects some of the well known 2015 Q3 shortcomings. Such as non folding screen, no home link, no seat memory, etc. And one I haven’t heard too much about, the rigid cargo cover. I had one of them on my GTI, it was a pain, and pictures I’ve seen of the 2016 Q3 show a retractable cargo cover.

I’ll be lurking around, maybe even asking questions.

Best Regards,
Bob

Welcome and it's good to ask questions.

Some of us here are on a mission and will be resolving the items you mentioned:

1) Homelink
2) Fold down MMI
3) Memory seats are in the process.
The 2016 Q3 will definitely address the retractable cargo cover, so if that's a concern, you needn't worry. And, if you've got about $130 and an hour and a half or so, you can fix the nav screen issue (though this should also, hopefully, be addressed for 2016).

That's two down...
Good luck with your search Bob. Seems like you have time to do some research; I have found this forum an excellent source of dedicated folks. In the meantime, keep the Q3 on your short list!

Best,
Welcome Bob - and don't even think of yourself as lurking - we're a bunch of folks who seem mostly happy (but not perfectly) with our Q3s, but more importantly willing to share and have dialog with ANYone who has interest ...

and some undecided, picky and fortunately in no rush to get one... like me :D

waiting and weighing out your options is probably one of the best things to do.
Quatto-

Great; continue looking and researching and consider keeping the Q3 on your short list as well.

Good Hunting! And... let us know your decision!

Best,
Welcome to the forum!

I hope that you can find some answers on this forum and get whatever help you need.

Cheers!
