New to the forum but not to the Q3. I'm not a huge fan of my dealer so am now happy to have found this forum.

I took delivery on my Monsoon Grey Q3 just about a year ago, and I think I can say it's the best car I ever owned. Having said this, there are a few quirks that I've been trying to work out ...

  • TPMS ... does it work? I know it activated when I had a flat (picked up a nail when it was a few weeks old), so that was okay. But this past weekend, it alerted me that my front right tire was low. When I checked, all four tires were extremely low, at around 24 pounds each! (The label on the door pillar says 33 front and 36 rear.) Do I blame the car or the dealer? Or is TPMS just not reliable?

  • MMI/Radio ... I like my local radio stations, and I have 8 presets. I always leave the system on my presets. Why does the system always revert to the full FM list when I start the car?

  • Phone contacts ... No matter how I opt to view my contacts on my iPhone, they always display as "Lastname, Firstname" on the heads-up display. Which means they really show only "Lastname," ... which is a pain when you have ten people named "Lastname,". How to tell which is which? Why can't I make it show "Firstname" first?

I'm sure I've forgotten a couple of things and will post when I remember them.

Welcome to the forum - SO glad you found us - hope you come back often to both query and contribute - So : TPMS; as long as the tire pressures remain the same (based on rotational differences NOT absolute pressures) the system will presume they are okay. THAT being said, the system WILL monitor the difference from the last time by a small (+-5%) difference: which if say the ambient temperature drops oh, say 10 degrees, it will prolly be enough to kick off an alert. The TPMS system is fine, blame either the dealer or even yor self for not paying attention to seasonal changes. Hey look, no harm no foul, BUT I check my tire pressure manually EVERY WEEK - that's NOT so much to ask for safety of MY self and family - techie or not, NOBODY should rely upon ANY system to do their OWN diligence...

MMI : yup, back to the whole list every time -that;'s just how it works, as you travel, this may change, but the system has no idea whether you're hangin out at home or driving 600 miles that day - so ...?

Phone Contacts : the interface is based on statistics (and Apple license) that says basically more than 90% use last name first as their preferred selection criteria - sorry, you're just in the minority - so that's all it does. At one time (a few years ago) the Apple license included the choice, but now no longer - same on Android btw ...

Greetings and welcome aboard. Currently in S. Florida but originate from Phila and live in Blue Bell. I was bitten by the Q3 in August while on Conshohocken Rd. There was a Red w/black that I test drove and drooled over. That was my first choice however Monsoon rocks. Enjoy yours.

My tire pressure was all over the place when I took delivery. I inflated to proper PSI and reset the TPMS. Does it work...Don't know. Maybe one tire should be deflated slightly to test.
