I've been posting here for a little while and thought it's time to introduce myself. I've been enjoying the site, so I just purchased the premium membership, too.

I currently own an Audi TT Coupe 3.2L Quattro (with rare manual transmission), and I'm looking to supplement the TT with a crossover of some sort. The service and overall ownership experience with Audi, and my local Audi dealer, has exceeded my expectations so I intend to stick with Audi. I also love the brand and Audi design, so a Q3 seems like a great fit for what I'm looking for.

I'm also considering an Audi Q5 TDI. I'm not sure if I want the larger space and added expense, although I'm quite a fan of the diesel motor in the Q5. If Audi offered a Q3 TDI with the 8-speed automatic then the choice would be clear for me -- Q3. I am somewhat frustrated that Audi does not offer more drivetrain choices in the USA -- I would have purchased the Europe-only Audi TT quattro diesel with a manual transmission if such combination had been offered in the USA.

Quite the dilemma you've got there. I don't think i would get a different car to chase the powertrain that i want. but that's just me.

Welcome to the forum. And btw, your current Audi is a great looking little car.

Welcome to the forum - The TDI WILL come (probably at first 1.7 FrontTrack only - for CAFE credits) but I think that Quattro will also be offered - perhaps by Spring 2015...

I'd have waited if I thought the 2.0 TDI with a 6 sp and Quattro could come - then heaven for me !! But I am not so sure we'll get the DSG here (too costly compared with the base Q5 imho).

Thanks for the welcome.

Roger, any photos of that Meteor Gray roadster? If Meteor Gray was available on the '08 TT, I would have been tempted to choose that over Ibis White. Love that Meteor Gray color -- it was a new paint option on the '09 TT model year. I ordered my TT back in summer of '07 and waited a few months for it to come in. I plan on doing the same with the Q3.

And let's see photos of that S5 too!

As you can see above, I CAN post pics, but using the same technique from my iPad (selecting the insert pic icon) and adding the HTML of pics here in forum just didn't work. Instead of inserting the HTML, it inserted instead an IMG code along with a bunch of other stuff : see below again using the SAME technique as on my PC (Firefox) but with different, strange results. I do NOT know what the icon selection and code insertion differences between Safari on an iPad and Firefox on a PC are though, so perhaps if I want to be a programmer, I DO need help.

Another try :

Okay, now that I feel somehow inferior I looked at the code pasted in - I did a select, copy and paste from my albums on this site. I think I see what's going on and it will become a minor PITA to work around on Safari iOS for an iPad or iPhone.

Here's what I think I see happening. There's no easy copy of the HTML URL for the pic. What the browser is grabbing is the code for the box surrounding the address as well. So when the whole thing is pasted, there's a bunch of other junk that goes with it. The interpreter on the forum side sees all this stuff ahead of the URL and thinks it's an IMG descriptor and adds them at the string start and end, which of course it's not, so the whole mess just shows up as 'junk' which just gets shown as the text of that 'junk.'

My solution will need to be to know where the EOF marker for the pic HTML is and paste this junk into another app, trim it of the code for the box, so that just the pic HTML is left, re copy that and then paste it into the link box - whew! Maybe it's just easier to insert pics from my PC, but really shouldn't be, dang it!

Okay, so a little more detective work revealed that the entire URL starts with http...and ends with just the file extension ...jpg. So easy enough but still harder than it should be for us mostly iPad users :-(

So ...

Oops - STILL thinks the HTML URL (it was a pure string) is an IMG string, so I suppose I MUST use the link icon instead so it KNOWS this rather than trying to interpret it...

So...

Nope -it pasted the HTML twice even though the content was just once, so if I go back and trim out one of them manually ...

So...
[URL="http://www.audiq3forum.com/forum/members/2609-rnlabas-albums-q3-stuff-picture81-audi-q3-2-0-tdi-quattro-s-tronic-karibubraun1.jpg"[/URL]

Whew! Okay the first one actually worked, but only after posting it so the interpreter worked afterall, but NOT the same way as from a PC with Firefox at least, where you see your pic even ahead of submitting, hmmmm.

So in the end nobody did the job that somebody was asked to do, and that everybody knew that anybody could have done...
