My Q3

Glad that ll went well - I think you'll still be amazed at the difference the SprintBooster makes (or Pedal Box if you prefer more granularity of adjustments) - but enjoy for now and worry about that later. No warranty issues btw, does NOT affect anything that would throw a DTC -

My experience so far reminds me of my first BMW 2002. I had driven a VW bug my last two years on active duty and my three years in college. As soon as I graduated I bought my BMW 2002. I loved it, it's responsiveness and the fact that it was the ultimate sports coupe. My Q3 reminds me of those times, the power and responsiveness, its handling and the fun it is to drive. Thank you Audi for helping me to return to those wonderful days 50 years ago. I love this crossover.

Thank you for your time! Greatly appreciated.

Your car : a nice A4, is on HOLD at the factory for SPEC, that prolly means a major component(s) of your Prestige Pkg. The HOLD is effective 7/7/16. I'd suggest a follow-up with your ABS at the Audi Exchange or a chat with Christine Clarke there to get further updates. Also realize that your order was just finalized on June 20th, so there won't be a lot of news too soon. Ask your ABS to sign you up for Audi Customer-in-Waiting, a production tracking service. As you get notifications closer to actual production (week 34; 22 Aug -28 Aug) you can check again. Nothing much will be noted before ...

So according to my Vehicle Details sheet on my Factory Order, my Actual Production Week will be 0417. There is a current ETA pf 02/09/2017-03/15/2017 (Draft ETA). Further down, the Ship Departure is 02/15/2017 (ETA), Domestic Port Arrived 02/21/2017 (ETA), Released to Carrier 02/24/2017 (ETA).

Then it says Dealer Delivery 02/09/2017-03/15/2017 (ETA). I don't understand how the Dealer Delivery could be so optimistic.

My COMM number is ME3211.

I am trying to time my early lease termination of my Jetta SW TDI, so having a better understanding would be helpful.

Is there a way for me to track this directly, like you can with a BMW order?

First, welcome to the forum -and we're glad to have an excited anticipatory member for their Q3. It looks like your ABS has already given you as much as he can - which IS a bit different than BMW provides - BUT, in the end (or as we get closer to production) we can get practical info for you to get comfy and excited about. I can follow your Comm No. myself if your ABS becomes less supportive (or dumbfounded) but they shouldn't get either. I suppose they have also already put you into Audi Customer in Waiting, but really, that info is short and sweet and not often enough updated for the many geeky of us. I can help get the vessel your car will come ove on and more details about expediting from the port once it gets closer too...

Just keep me in mind as/when you want more info than your ABS can/will provide and I'll be happy to help as best I can -

I can vouch for Roger's ability to find the ship your car is on. Eighteen months ago my granddaughter learned from him the ship that her grandmother's Q3 was on and she tracked it while learning geography and commerce at the same time as the car headed for Houston.

As others can attest, and depending upon how far your dealer is located from the port, it can often take an indeterminate amount of time before it arrives at your dealer from the port, but by this point your ABM is much better able to give you a tight window for delivery.

Not sure it will be as fun tracking my 2018 Q5 from Mexico, but it will probably be a quicker journey.

Actually, I have an Allroad on order, but when I went looking for Audi order tracking, this seemed like the only forum that had a suggestion.

I was spoiled by how easy it was to track my X3 order in 2008. When I ordered my A4 Avant in 2011, timing wasn't critical, and it came in early. But now I want to avoid being without a car too long, as I have a set date to turn in my TDI.

I guess I will wait for week five of 2017 and then follow up with my dealer.

Out of curiosity, I wonder if there are statistics on how many Q3s are sold on the lot vs via special order. Are you able to get more options than a prestige model when you place an order?

I actually never known the world of ordering vehicles until I joined this forum. I live in the Washington, DC area and I am probably living in a fantasy world for vehicle buyers. There are six Audi dealerships with about 20 Q3s each at any given time. Baltimore is about an hour away and they also have a couple of more dealerships. When I was purchasing my Q3 some dealerships had more than 30 Q3s and four dealerships had the color and minimum option level I wanted. It would be nice if official Audi dealerships can ship vehicles to other dealerships throughout the US instead of shipping vehicles all the way from from Spain or wherever the vehicle orders will come from.

Well it is often possible to do a DX, or Dealer Exchange, where your dealer finds the car you are looking for at another dealer, and offers to exchange a similar model with that dealer as an accommodation. This happens a lot. Over the years, I have leased several vehicles where DX was employed.

But with a niche vehicle like the Allroad, that is not likely to happen. There just are not that many in the system.

This is the second Audi IU have ordered with this dealer, and I can say with certainty that they have no qualms about doing an order, which is often done by modifying an allocation that they already have in the system, turning an allocation order into a vehicle sold order.

I was able to order as many options as I wanted, with the exc option of one, Audi Beam Rings, which is a port-installed option that, even though it shows up on the 2017 Allroad Order Guide, is not available.

Yes, I understand the niche models like the Allroad, S or RS lines are harder to find especially with the specific colors and options buyers prefer. I am just surprised to read so many people order the mainstream models like the Q3.

I terms of ordering, I was wondering if you can get any European options not available in the US like the folding MMI display, amber turn lights, grill, etc.

All Audis built for sale in the US are NAR (North American Region) spec - and that means even when ordering, there is a guide (that we follow ourselves when ordering for stock) that must be followed. That means you cannot order things like the folding MMI screen or amber turn signal lamps etc, -but JUST options that are available for the NAR market as determined by Audi of America.

As for dealer transfers they are QUITE common and every Audi dealer has the ability to search ALL Audis in stock or even on order to try and satisfy a customer need. However, those cars belong to a certain dealer and cooperation between them is NOT a given but a hope - some better than others. And it is likely to better deal with closer than farther dealers simply for the matter of secondary transportation costs (which the buyer often must contribute most to).

As for the PIO Audi Beam Rings (and quattro) - there is a production issue being worked out on these so stock is no longer available until at least prolly March -

I'm sure it varies by region and dealer, but over the last 30 years I have found that I can get a better price and the exact car I want by ordering from the factory....not just Audi (we've had 3), but other manufacturers as well.

In my current location we have only two Audi dealers that are relatively close (I think there are three more about 3 hours away), but neither are into swapping cars, and if they do, I've not seen the usual 3-6% discounts offered as one might get by ordering or buying off the lot.

My other car is a Lexus, and our only local dealer is offering an 8% discount if I'll slip into a 2017 RX already on their lot, but I'm sitll holding out and waiting to test drive the new and improved 2018 Q5....money and discounts are not as important as the fun of driving.

oh man Duffer and just you wait - the new Q5 is KILLER - I mean it will be lower, larger AND lighter - drive like a mad Q3 and you won't believe the price. Don't look for big discounts though, cuz they will be selling faster than we can get 'em ... but man oh man it is NICE !!

Good to hear the new Q5 will be KILLER....makes my decision to wait the extra year seem worthwhile. Thanks!

Will finally see the new Q5 in person in 10 days, and my dealer says he'll "guarantee" me a 3% discount. I'm hoping to stay under $50K, but I'm not going to let that figure stop me from getting all the extras. :p

If you joined the ACNA at least 6 months ago like I recommended to ALL folks in the U.S. here, you would likely get a guaranteed 6% discount ...

Seems I looked at the numbers once and determined the cost of joining the ACNA too early ate up the extra 3% I'd be saving....and I'm really not into the few ACNA activities that I've heard about.

Regardless, it could be as long as 9 months from now (or whenever our home remodel is completed) before I order the new car....so I still have a chance to follow-up on your recommendation. When I last spoke with my ABM, he said the 6% would be automatic....

Is this 6% from the sticker price or the dealer "secret" price? The dealer gave me almost 7% discount from the sticker price. The dealer uses truecar.com for price comparisons. Since I bought a 2017 model in the summer of 2016, the 2017 prestige model average price was not yet available on truecar.com when I purchased my Q3. The dealer used the 2016 prestige model average price as the final sales price for my purchase which was about 7% less than the sticker price.

I just checked the cost of joining the ACNA and it was only $108 US for 3 years ($49 for 1 year/$79 for 2 years)....that's an excellent price and there are many more member activities in my area since the last time I checked almost 2 years ago.

But no where does it explicitly say anything about a 6% discount off the sticker price, that I thought it once did.

My ABM is on vacation, but I called an ABM at another dealership, and she was not aware of the ACNA or any discount.

Roger? Guide us through this...

OBTW, when talked to the ABM today, she said that Audi will offer the North American 2018 Q5 in Matador Red....the first red Q5 in NA, apparently. I am now 90% sold on this new automobile.

The 6% IS a benefit of ACNA membership, but NOT all dealers give it - but hey, at $50 a year, the club IS worth it even to try... plus many dealers extend parts discounts as well that help too. As rgobantesdc asked, there is NO 'secret price', but the factory invoice is 6% less than MSRP. Dealers may price the cars at about whatever they want to sell it - so competition remains king - including supply vs demand.

...and btw, Matador Red IS pretty cool - it's available on a few 18 model lines now - @DampDuffer : if you're only 90% sold now, wait till you see the car, that will flip you easily 10% - and then, when you drive it, you'll be begging to take one home - I'm certain of it !!!
