Curious as to what other people have done for license plate frames? Of course my dealer/broker put on their branded plastic frames and branded cardboard sign underneath. These have quickly been removed. So while I'm waiting for my OR license plates to arrive I thought I would order up some appropriate frames. I see Audi has some spendy carbon fiber frames - too much money. Also some metal frames at around $35 - more in line with price I'd like to pay. Since my car is Mythos Black I thought it would be best to get black frames. What's the best place to buy frames and do you think black on black with the Audi rings is the way to go here Vs "Audi Sport"? Thanks!

Thanks Otto - Does Audi sell on line - when I went to the accessories page it wanted me to put in a zip for closest dealer...what's the best way to purchase this if I want to get an Audi frame? I did find some on Ebay but not the one I wanted. Either plane black in steel or with the rings.

Ah - I figured it out...after you enter your zip, only then do they present the options for purchasing it...in my case all out of state. Interesting.

The license plate bracket is what goes behind the license plate. The frame is exactly that, a frame that goes around the edges of the plate. I don't like the bare crimped metal edges of the license plate so I put a generic slim gloss black frame for the [unfortunately necessary] front plate, and one of the Audi sport metal frames for the back plate.

Thanks. I went ahead and ordered the OEM black metal frames with the Audi logo. With Mythos Black as the car color the black frame will blend into the car color. I wouldn't want to go "frameless" :)

Thanks everyone..I liked the simplicity of the 3 ring version in black, so that's what I ordered. They are on the way and will have them this Friday...hoping it works well with the Mythos Black. Amazingly I got by without having a front plate on my Mini Cooper for 10 years! It didn't have one when I bought it at the Avis Car lot in 2005 and I assumed that if they sold it to me that way...it must be OK...wonder if I'd get away with that with the Audi...Saw on an earlier thread and looked up Oregon law and appears it's a requirement so don't know why they never bothered me. But I'm not willing to find out if that means getting an expensive ticket.

When I was stationed in VA (Ft. Meyer) I had MO plate on the rear and I lost count of how many times a VA Trooper did U-turn to pull me over.

Military Plate

Spoke with Tennessee DOR today and the good news is that I will be able to exchange the lessor's plate for a new Purple Heart plate. I know that while in MO I could not do that but apparently TN has a different view. I didn't want to stick any decals on my back window so am glad that I will be able to get another PH plate.
