Hellooooo from Mariemont, Ohio! I am finally going to make the jump from Asian cars to German. I ordered my Audi Q3 last week. I really wanted a 2015, as I love how it looks & feels, and there are so many unknowns in a new model year. But alas, 2015 ordering is closed - which I find odd in the middle of April!
Anyway, I'm very excited about my new car - which of course will not be here for several months. I found this forum while searching for any tidbits I can find on the 2016 redesign. Every day I'm looking!
Looking forward to sharing my experience with you, and joining the Audi family. :x

Hi! And thank you! My salesman (who is also the dealership finance manager) did send me the order confirmation. But I am still nervous because I keep seeing various videos and reviews mentioning things like "ten different wheel choices" and other niceties that could very well be only the Euro version. It's SO hard to figure this out!
Oooooh, I am privileged and excited to be the first 2016 order!!
I will ask my sales guy for updates - that would be very fun.

My experience was that I did get updates, but not frequently. There were about 3-4 events that trigger an email.

Thin would describe it... We picked up ours in January so since then I have not really been in touch with dealer availability but I can say that I still have not seen another on the road...

Ask your ABS to set you up for Audi Customer in Waiting - he'll need an email address - and you will get periodic (about 3) updates progressing your order. You can ask your ABS for more, there's info here http://www.audiq3forum.com/forum/313-q3-dealers-purchases-orders/2682-just-i-tried-confirm-ship-loaded.html#post17698 on the status and what they mean. You can also muddle through that thread for more stuff that some of us have been thru - BUT please don't be discouraged - and remember, patience IS a virtue - AND it WILL be worth it !!:laugh:

What I really don't get is if the order entry was April 14th, then why is the "actual production week" listed as 06/15/2015? That's quite a lag!
And why so many variations between the Euro and USA version? I especially want to know about wheel options, but there's nothing released yet.

Part of the reason is that Audi prefers to load up the EU pipeline ahead of us - they are afterall a German company. Also, they usually like to keep their model introductions later in the year to fit our "expectation" that new cars come out in the fall - but they like others have made exceptions to these guidelines, especially with higher-end cars.

btw, my order entry was July 28,2014 and my car was made on Oct. 15th - more than 2 weeks longer than yours ...

As for the variants - that's just the way it is. Audi like everybody else, makes a choice of what ranges we are likely to want and enjoy. Also remember the cost to certify every car INCLUDES every major structural option. Sometimes it just doesn't make economical sense to spend $500K -$1M to cover a different seat or another engine that might sell only a few thousand units, with no big difference in price. npv is negative, no deal.

Then they package options conveniently for us (and more so for them) to accomplish two things - 1) consistent resale, and 2) effective costs - The latter more for them, cuz they sell the cars here MUCH cheaper than anywhere else in the RoW. Just ask a guy in the UK - his Q3 2.0 Quattro prolly costs about $10-12K more for the exact same car than we pay, and it's NOT all just added taxes - check out the prices BEFORE VAT or MwSt...

oh, and get the off-road design double-spoke 5 arm wheels (orange arrow below) - they are beautiful and easily worth it -

The standard wheel will prolly be one of the blue arrows below ... and I don't think they'll offer the 20s to us in the US.
