Okay, you get an address on your nav and it brings up 3 different routes you need to choose from and the times it's going to take to get there. Turning the dial you can barely see the difference between the routes. Say I want to take the back roads somewhere instead of the highway. How do I find out which route it's going to take me street by street without selecting it first?

Select each one and look thru the lists - as long as you don't hit start, you can go back thru the others and do the same thing...

Hi Roger
Hope you're enjoying your lack of snow when we're in the bitter cold AND snow this winter.... Anyway, remember at the beginning of the post I asked you about the MMI and the three route choices you're given when you get an address? I still can't figure out how to see each route to decide which one to take other than turning the knob which shows the route on a pretty small map. If you push the dial to see each one you activate the NAV.

Have you figured out a way around this?

Sometimes around here I want to find the "back way" instead of the highway and it's very hard to tell the full route just looking at the MMI screen.

Don't PUSH the button, just turn it and it will jump to the next route - be sure you have the turn-by-turn list loaded on the left side when doing this so you can see them ... Even before you load a destination set the zoom view to the level you can see the differences closer - say a half or 1 mile

Jumping on this NAV usage - is there a way to manually select alternate routes for certain roads within a predefined NAV directions that I selected?

For example: I select route A from the Nav list but know that a certain alternate street can be used in lieu of the one provided & I want to use that street instead to see total timing & mileage.

You can set a stop-over at a point on that street and let it essentially reroute that way. I'm not sure you can just drag points like in Google Maps though ...

I hardly ever use my navi since I can't figure out how it works. I tried the navi in a Toyota once years ago and it was a pain. I thought it would be much easier nowadays. Sometimes I like to take local, but I don't see that option. In setting, highway and toll option is either "include" or "'minimise." I would think you can choose to avoid highway and toll.

Roger
Where is the turn by turn list option you're talking about?
Sorry for the late reply - look on the button (quadrants) choices, you'll see one that is for the list...

Hi Roger,
A bit late on the reply but I haven't had a chance to log back in...When the route choices come up and you want to select one AND see the turn by turn to see which route it is I have looked everywhere on the screen to see a selection of turn by turn and I can't see anything anywhere..What am I missing...
