Hi,

I'm looking to own an suv and been recommended the audi brand.

I like the classy look of it.

Any current owners with any positive or negative feedbacks about this Q3? or any of the Q series.

Considering for future purchase.

Hey there and welcome to the forum. I'm sure you'll find plenty of opinions here to help you out. Please come back and visit us often - especially if you buy a Q3. Personally I'm VERY fond of the Q3, both for its looks and performance as the perfect size SUV for us. I'd seen and driven one in Germany back in 2012 and have been waiting for it to get here since - love mine...

Hi Rnlabas!

I'm hoping to look for my answers on here :)

It's not in launched in where you're living now?

It seems like you're a sole audi owner? :)

I've never owned an audi, so I'm fairly excited in the future !
@AudiDude : As my profile on the left of my posts shows, I am in Greenville, SC - USA, but I cannot see where you are located. I'm not sure what you mean by "sole Audi Owner"- whether you mean I have but 1 Audi, actually I have 3, or that the only brand of cars I own are Audis, that's true. Elsewhere in my posts, you'll find that I've owned many (30) BMWs, a few American cars, Ferrari, Maserati, old Lotus, I used to race original Minis, several British cars. I'm an old dude - and a car guy, so I've had a few cars ...

Great looking crossover.

The back seats are tight for adults and no memory seats for the front. Plus we ended up doing an aftermarket homelink.

For our next car we might consider a Q5, but not the Q3, unless they do something especially with the back leg room.

Hi @rnlabas!

I'm from Ontario Canada.

That's amazing that you owned that many cars!

Did you race as one of your hobbies?

I really am looking forward for this Q3 and to able to test drive it in the near future.

I've been driving the sedan for the last 10 years, ranging from the civic to the camry and altima. I felt that I needed a change and my family is expanding as well.

Definitely need more interior space for more comfort of my wife and 2 kids. As we love going on mini road trips on the weekends, thought an SUV would be a perfect ride.

Thanks for the feedback @MPBQ3

Sounds like the seats are uncomfortable.... Well I won't be having adults in my rear seats for now, just my 2 kids (age 8 and 10).

Although, they'll grow and get bigger... this got my re considering now... even though by the time they reach the adult age, I'll proabably change cars again...

Tough call now.. my wife loves the Q3. I guess I'll have to check out the Q5 and discuss with her about the rear passenger space.
I think the back seats have more room than I would have thought, considering the back seat leg room, wheelbase, and size of the Q3. I'm 5'-10" and have not felt cramped. However, storage is good for 2, might be limited for a family vehicle. To me the Q5 is a good size for family storage, etc. However for us, it felt just a bit too much like a truck (SUV), versus a CUV which is what we were looking for. Good luck!

I purchased Q3 in June 2015 and I've been loving it since.

We are a family of two + a medium sized dog. The size is perfect for now and if we have a baby now, Q3 would be good until the child is in his/her teens (although, I highly doubt I'd keep any car for that long).

But if I were you, (two kids nearing their teens) I would go for a bigger SUV like Q5.

Performance is the only part of Q3 I don't like. Even in Sport mode, it lacks power, in my opinion. Then again, I bought this to be my start-up family SUV...

SprintBooster is MUCH more responsive and enjoyable than Sport Mode imho ...

Our Q3 has been absolutely perfect for around town and to the beach and mountains for two adults and an occasional pre-teen in the back.....but I will admit that for longer trips, it is a bit a squeeze when we're hauling golf clubs, big bags, and other supplies.

A few months ago we borrowed a Q5 from the dealer for a week long trip and "trial run." Compared to the Q3 was boring! It was a nice car, but we felt no excitement when driving it. However, it was a 2015 model....the 2016 might be nicer.

Our bigger car is a 10 year-old Lexus NX hybrid...I prefer it to the Q5 we drove, but having said that, I will certainly give the Q5 another chance when it comes time to trade-in the Lexus.

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah.. we're a family of four and we love going on short weekend trips to the falls so my wife tends to over pack.. lol I would assume the Q5 would be ideal in this case then?

Based on the feedbacks so far, it sounds like I might just have to go to the Q5 route, but sometimes my kids like to stay with their grandparents, because they get spoiled there lol. However, my wife and I tries to go on a weekly weekend trip to the falls. I'm just split between the two now... Q3... Q5.. kids going into teen years soon and they probably don't even want to hang with us anymore lol

That was my concern about going on trips with a bunch of luggages too.

Was the Q5 lacking power that you felt it was boring?

Funny thing was, I was also considering the Lexus NX... but I think I might just still to gas.
Drive BOTH - preferably back-to-back, that way you can see and feel directly and perhaps even on the same route, the differences. The Q3 is a more dynamic and responsive platform (the new Q5 will be too) but it IS worth the test drive ...

This is very true. Q3 would be perfect if the kids were already at their teens, because then, they will want to buy their own cars and never get in the back seats of their parents cars. But since they have few more years to go, Q3 maybe little too small, even for short trips.

Like Roger said, test drive them. The new Lexus NX is near the price range and seems bigger than Q3, also a nice looking SUV in my opinion. I would try that one too.

I misspoke in an earlier post, I have an older RX not an NX, but I have test driven the NX and came very close to buying one recently after multiple test drives.

The NX definitely has more room than the Q3 (I can fit my golf clubs sideways in the NX), but it is not as dynamic or fun to drive as my wife's Q3.

Generally there are only two of us in Q3 at any given time, and we've taken the Q3 on a number of short trips, but when it comes to longer trips or a night out with two adults in the back seat, we take the RX.

As we already own a Q3, my next car will probably be either a NX or a Q5....but my wife's car will definitely be the Q3 for a long time to come....she really loves the size and the fun she has driving it.

I like what I'm hearing Roger.....tell me more about the "new" Q5.

When? What?

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I found the Q5 boring and just another SUV, but if I know there's something on the horizon that's better than the 2015 Q5 I drove for a week....I'll be giving the new Q5 a chance.

The new Q5 will prolly hit around the end of this year or early 2017 as a 2017 model. It may come out a bit later too (Spring) as an early 2018 : will be manufactured in the new Mexico plant. It will look like the Q3 and Q7 as for exterior design language, perhaps closer to the Q7. It will have a little extra power (252hp) for the 2.0, a new 3.0 (maybe bi-turbo instead of SC) but will still be called a T. For sure new interior similar to new A4 and Q7, i.e. virtual dash, enhanced LED lighting, larger MMI input knob/pad etc. cuz it's on the same platform (MLB) as them...

The MLB platform is all new, lots of super strength steel and aluminum - while bigger and lighter, drives SMALLER, and is more dynamic. Go drive a new A4 and Q7 back to back with the old cars - you'll be STUNNED at the difference.

Thank you Roger, I can wait another 18 months if I need to, and I will gladly wait if the new Q5 is worth the wait.....which it sounds as if it will be.

I literally came within 30 minutes of buying a new NX F-Sport below invoice recently, but decided instead to put the money toward remodeling the bathrooms in our house... Made a ton of "husband points" with that decision....most of which should still be in the bank when it comes to a new car purchase in a year or so...
