Hey guys, new here. My name's Luke and I'm looking into getting into a Q3 early next year sometime. Just wanted to see what you guys went from driving before getting into the Q3. My transition is going to feel a little weird as I'm coming from an older Rover Supercharged. So, my real question is what were you driving before and why'd you go Q3?

Thanks for input, means a lot

came from a 2008 VW Wolfsburg Jetta which was modified. Took Delivery of my Q3 early Dec of 2016 and have not looked back. Loving the way it handles so far and have not done any performance mods on it yet.

I drove a 1998 Montero Sport previously which was a great SUV but nothing like the Q3. Your downsizing quite a bit so not sure how you'll like the Q3 unless you've already checked it out. I think the Q3 is very peppy and handles really well but its not a V8! Be sure to test drive a few competitor SUVs/Crossovers in this class so you can appreciate the Q3. Also, be sure to compare the none-sport-package to the sport package if your thinking about going that route since the sport seats are a little stiffer in my view (I have these and still like them).

I've been an Audi guy for about 10 years (30 BMWs before that) but was lucky to drive the Q3 in Germany back in 2012 - so could compare to a lot of what was already around. Knew then though that the Q3 was the "right size" SUV for my wife and me ... and a good amount of fun-to-drive too - which in our case was the priority in all honesty - of course just look at my sig to see how I roll -

A3 Hatchback 2015 180bhp - Q3 testdrive made me decide for my upgrade. Love the SUV experience and the height. Roads in Mexico City are not very good, to many potholes and pavement bad condition that gets worse during rain season (6 months duration down here). Congratulations for your new Q3!

Welcome to the forum, Gerry....hope you find a lot of useful information here, I know we look forward to hearing of your Q3 experiences.

I know what you mean about potholes....we just got back from a long trip in the southwestern US and Mexico and our Q3 is in the Audi shop now getting a wheel alignment....$250.

For us in Central Oregon dodging potholes has become a year around exercise and it's particularly bad in the latter part of winter when you have the added challenge of driving in occasional snow and ice and the potholes seems to be sprouting and growing by the day. City crews run around and try to fill them up with temporary materials but they can't keep up. It certainly does diminish the enjoyment of driving, no matter what the car and it takes defensive driving to a new level (watching for cars, pedestrians, bicyclist and potholes all the while navigating the cities numerous roundabouts. I consider it a victory every time I arrive home having not hit any major craters. Sorry to hear about your alignment expense DampDuffer. Bummer....

Yikes now you've tallied up over $600. I don't know about other towns but locally there is a policy that pays the car owner for the damage under certain circumstances. One could argue negligence on the part of the government agency tasked with keeping our roads in drivable conditions...but I guess that would be asking too much.....
