Ready for order

So I'm ready to order 2015 Q3 2.0 TFSI (Front Wheel Drive) + navigation w/o audi connect ($1900) which totals to $34,400 before tax / dealership fees / registrations.

However, here's what worries me...

I need to "order" the car because I'm not in the USA right now and I need to have the car ready for me when I land on July 26th. Plus, I want to have it built with just the right option so I don't waste my money on something useless like (power tail gate for $450)

But, is it even possible to order 2015 Q3 here in the US now?? I've contacted about two dealers in Arlington, Virginia area and I'm waiting for their quotes/reply.

The window to order 2015's closed some time ago. I do not know if they are taking orders for 2016, but when I ordered mine in December, I was told 12 weeks. It took quite a bit longer.
Thanks doug!

I'm finding out that as we speak. I'm being contacted by dealers in D.C. area and some seem to try to rip me off HARD...

I was just quoted $40,576 to drive out the lot on a Q3 that was MSRP $37,650... What is the deal?!?

Sales Tax is 4%...so where is that extra $1420 coming from? LOL give me a break.

My wife would disagree with you on the power tailgate option... :D haha
Anyway, It took me a while to negotiate pricing and options with my local dealer, but it's always good to be informed. Good luck in finding what you need.
Thanks doug!

Tax is 6%. Plus's there are dealer fees and registration fees
I ordered mine in November and because there was a waiting list I had a month's wait and there wasn't much room for negotiation. My prestige model was about $41,000 with everything except the sport package.

I unfortunately needed a car and I couldn't wait any longer. The Q3 was the best possible scenario for me. A bit of my BMW with the luxury and none of the bumpy ride. Guess that's the price you pay for being one of the first...

I love my power tailgate btw.... :)
So, I think I found a pretty good deal. Premium with navigation, driver assist and POWER TAIL GATE >:D for $37,800 out the lot!

And they are willing to do all the paper work over the email and few phone calls. They did ask for auto insurance for the next two months for it to sit in the lot though, which makes sense.

How should I or do most people purchase using cash? Do you write a personal check? Or do you call the bank and ask them to authorize a large payment before swiping the debit card??

This is my first car buying experience and I'm learning a lot, for sure.

Oh, and they gave me 6% off MSRP which was $37,170... do you think I could deal for a couple more hundred dollars off to round it off to $37,500?
I would consider doing a money order instead of a cheque. You can always call your bank and they should be able to advise you what the best strategy would be.

You can try to get some more money off, but considering they are already giving you a discount, I wouldn't hold my breath or get too greedy.

The deal sounds pretty good in my opinion.
If you want to ask for more off, be prepared to walk in with some goodies for them
Bulk coffee from a good local coffee shop, donuts or something :D
They were not dealing at all in Texas. I did manage to get $100 off the window tint for the front doors.

I am really happy with the car though and feel really lucky they had what I wanted on the lot since they seem to be in pretty short supply overall. I got the FWD Prestige with everything except the sport seats for $37,920.
Oh, and the power tailgate is awesome. :D

Thanks for the advice. I have contacted my bank and they said I can order to have a certified check sent to anyone in the US, so I will do that.

Haha, I ended up with one! I shall see how useful it is!

Jealous for the black cloth headliner! They seem to be hard to come by. I hope you enjoy your new Q3 as much as I am enjoying mine. Congrats!
The 15' was rolled out in small quantities in the US as a test market. There are not many around, and they can charge a premium for them. The small SUV market is exploding right now. If you have had Audi's in the past, ask for a loyalty bonus, I had 1,500 taken off my sticker. mine has literally ever option you can have, and I pay just over $500/mo for it, but I lease too....

On a side note, why would you ever order a FWD Audi? It very much defeats the purpose IMO anyways....

Exactly, I got a Audi because of the Quattro
Ordered my 2015 Q3 Quattro, Mythos Black, Prestige, Sport Pkg., 19" wheels in late December and I picked it up TODAY! The car is in very high demand and the dealers in Western NY are not discounting at all. Sales figures for the Q3 have been in the 1000/month range since the car was introduced last month. Inventory is very low and inventory is being turned over every few days at the dealers I've been monitoring.
Well, I would say that a) deverelle probably knows what she's doing so it would be good to frame the question with that in mind and b) being that she's in Texas, I'm guessing the snow handling prowess of Quattro probably takes a back seat to the affordability/fuel savings of FWD. But I'll let her answer, I suppose!

Correction: ~1000 Q3's/month being delivered since release in U.S. Last fall.
