Hello Everyone,

My name is Brandon. I am a new Q3 owner and new to the forum. The lady and I just purchased a 2016 Premium Plus and we noticed under both front seats that there are cuts/slits. They arent symmetrical on both sides, but it does look like there are wire harnesses under there because you can pull the most outer edge up and see. Has anyone else seen/noticed this? I have included an image. Thank you very much and I appreciate any answers/feedback that anybody may have.

Hey Brandon - welcome to the forum. We're glad you discovered us and hope you enjoy our family almost as much as you enjoy your car. Please come back often and visit - post more pics etc.
To answer your question, those are normal pre-cut vents in the carpets. Usually they are not very noticeable cuz they're pretty far back and you can brush a little nap of the carpet over them to hide them a bit more if you like...

Hello. Thank you for the warm welcome and I really appreciate your reply. My only concern is if you look closely, they just look poorly cut. They're not straight and even. Usually everything with Audi is so precise; they use guide tools, etc. This just looks freehanded. I've owned Audis for serveral years and I honestly have to say I've never seen that type of craftsmanship. Does yours look this way? Thank you again!

I think they all came out like that. Not right..should have a finished edge. Do show service when you take it in. They'll most likely say it normal but it'll be on record if any issues come up. Fit and finish does matter. I'm surprised how it shipped out.

They're actually punched with a die that sort of rolls over the carpet piece which itself is sort of vacuum-formed ... mine are pretty straight and there's enough nap scratched over them that they're hardly noticeable, but I have the dark gray which may make a difference too. If you're not happy, take it back and see what Audi will do for you.

I agree. It's not right. I understand that it is in an area which is rarely seen, but it is partially principle. Some people are probably thinking to themselves: "Really? it's under the seat," but I appreciate precision and good craftsmanship. I'm honestly surprised by their attention to detail in this regard. I may write a letter to AoA voicing my disappointment.

I was a little alarmed by the cuts in the rug when we took delivery of our Q3 10 months ago, especially as I keep the seat in the full aft position when driving and I'm the one that does the vacuuming, but when I learned it was "normal," I was simply disappointed....not alarmed.

My wife, the primary driver of our Q3, has never noticed the cuts....that's good enough for me.
