Software Update for Oil Waring Light

I had my NA 2015 Q3 in to fix the power liftgate.

While it was in, the found it also needed a software update. Apparently, this updates adds a yellow low oil warning indicator when the engine is 1 quart low. The previous sw level only had a red warning indicator for an even lower level.

Thanks for the heads up! It's not too important so the software upgrade for the oil warning indicator can probably wait for the next Q3 maintenance visit.
Thanks for sharing. It's like getting a new car when they release software updates. :-D Maybe I can convince my dealer to set my mirrors to fold upon lock so I don't have to buy a Windows PC to run VCDS.

You should have no problem doing this really. Any savvy dealer can use VAS to do it if they want to. They'll prolly complain about not having the right SVM (the programming) but if you give them the info in the VCDS thread they should be able to do it.

If not, SOMEBODY (especially the techs) around the dealer will know a local gearhead who already has VCDS and will meet you somewhere for a beer to do it - takes 10 minutes (including the beer).

Or - I just noticed - you're in Austin - meet me at COTA for the WEC and I'll do it for you - I'll be in the Audi Motorsports suites from Fri-Sat (18th-19th) - we could meet in the main parking lot (off of FM812) look for Audi Corral Parking - PM me for more details -
Does anyone know if this is the same as recall 90I7? I had mine in the shop today for the sunroof recall & they said this was just issued but I can't find anything on the Audi USA site. My invoice says reflash instrument cluster & something about battery load???

It could be. If I look at my work order, it lists the following:

Perform RVU 90I7 Criteria 8U
Performed Software Update
Updated Programming is to provide a Yellow Warning
Indicator when the oil is 1 quart low (Minimum Level).
Previously vehicle only had red indicator that would come on when level was even lower.

9017 is the latest one - it's about 3 weeks old and may not show up on Audi USA for another week or so. It's NOT a critical update, but they usually test battery hold at any service or re-coding - it's part of the SVM - program. Doug is right about the program effects - which is part of the original design but had faulty (missing) coding during production - prolly part of the specifics used for us in the NAR where the car was new.
