Hi,

I am new to this forum as well as to Audi. I have a Q3 on order. It is scheduled to arrive in two weeks (Prestige, AWD, Sport Package).

I wonder if owners with sport seats could comment on their comfort? I test drove a Q3 with standard seats as there were none available with sport seats. I found the standard seats a bit lacking in thigh support for my taste, so I ordered a Q3 with sport seats after sitting in an A3 equipped with them. (I understand that they are essentially the same seats as those in the Q3.) I was attracted to them because they have extendible thigh support. They seemed pretty comfortable to me, but it is hard to judge a seat quickly.

If it is relevant, I am bout 6’2” and 150 lbs.

I have read a variety of opinions on the sport seats. Most seem positive. I thought I would check with this group: after reading and lurking for a bit you seem a reasonable lot….

Thanks.

Cool, we're a reasonable lot - I like that. Well, welcome to the forum and hope you find mire stuff to keep you interested. I have the sport seats (also in my TT) and them pretty good. Not quite as back supportive as my S5 sport seats, but really, pretty nice. I think you'll be reasonably happy...

I'm about the same size/build and I quite like the sports seats. I got spoiled by Volvo seats in my last car and knew the standard seats in the Q3 just wouldn't cut it. Very happy with that decision.

Hey YMe. You will be happy with the Q3 when it arrives. Although I don't think the sport seats come with the thigh extenders. I have the sports seats in mine and they don't extend.

My sports seats DO have the extenders. I doubt there are two versions.

I find they are very comfortable with all the adjustments. Very supportive in cornering.

Thanks for your responses. It sounds as though the sport seats were the right decision on my part. I am pretty picky about seat comfort. I test drove many cars that were eliminated because of uncomfortable seats.

I've read complaints that the Q3 sport seats are too narrow and that the bolsters are too high, etc., but it is so hard to tell if the complaints are coming from reasonable critics or if they are vague impressions from a five minute drive. It's nice to have input from people with actual experience.

Nickjs1984,

I am glad to hear a good review of the seats from a Volvo driver as they do have amazing seats. I guess it would be a bit too much to expect the Q3 sport seats to match that level of comfort, but would you say they come close?

I have the sports package as well and perhaps the seats are a little narrower. From my understanding, the extenders make a long trip very comfortable; especially for taller people. I've only had the car a few days but messing around a little, it might even be more comfortable for me at 5'7".

As far as the rest of the package goes, I am being careful on the spirited driving until it breaks in some more. The paddles seem a little silly; coming from a manual transmission, I'll most likely prefer the floor shifter.

BTW, welcome to the forum!

They're there ... check in FRONT of your thighs.

I am jealous :( I had sport seats on my list before I walked into the dealership, but got convinced due to limited wait time on a arriving Q3 without this option.

Sport seats were an option I really wanted and was able to get. I am 5'7" but have long legs. I did not try them beforehand since my dealer only had one Q3 to test drive and it had standard seats, but coming from several cars that had them (3 series BMWs, Mercedes) I was quite sure I would like them and I do. They were the first thing my son mentioned when I told him I was getting a Q3!

Hmm...I would say that they are just as good at holding me in place (they are narrow, but I'm a very slim guy so I actually prefer this), especially at the lower back and hips. I don't think they are quite as comfortable for long haul driving as the Volvo seats were - I could get out of the S60 after a five hour drive without feeling fatigued at all - but they feel sportier in that they are more firm overall. So they live up to being sport seats that are probably about 90% as comfortable as Volvo's amazing chairs.

Hope that makes sense!

Thanks. That makes sense. Do you find the side bolsters intrusive or are they soft enough to be supportive without getting in the way? I only ask because I currently have a VW with rather narrow seats and high bolsters, and for some reason they are suddenly annoying me after 11 years w/o an issue. I guess I am getting old.

I am pretty thin as well, so hopefully it will not be an issue.

I am NOT so thin, and the side bolsters are fine -

Side bolsters are definitely not intrusive. I thought I'd rub against them a lot when getting in and out but they are not in the way at all then, either.

Sports Package comfort

Hi, I am awaiting the arrival of my Q3 and I got the sports package for the sports seat. I'm a little worried about the sports suspension affecting the comfort of the drive since I wasn't able to test a car with the sports package. Is this an issue for anyone?
