Noticed in our Q3 - when music is off obviously - upon turning & rotating the steering wheel in 360° manner - there is a slight rubbing noise emanating from the steering column.

Not noticeable when music is on or people talking.

Anyone have had this experience before?

Wanted to gauge severity or impact before bringing it in.

I definitely noticed a rubbing sound when turning the wheel significantly (like cranking to get into a parking spot) during the first few months - when I got the Q3 last September. I have not noticed it recently, but admit I have not experimented with really cranking the wheel with the music off. I thought I would wait until my first service appointment and try it before hand so I can report it if needed. Hoping it was something related to "new car" that would go away.

Our is a couple of months older that your & I didn't noticed it till after our complimentary 5K service.

Hmm, we've had absolutely no problems or complaints with our Q3, I wonder if I should even take the risk of taking it in for its scheduled 5K service next month.....

I have the same problem. It's like I can hear the servo motor assisting the steering wheel. That's what sounds like to me. My q3 does the same thing.

Like a mechanical noise?

My sounds like rubber rubbing on rubber.

Yes, like a mechanical noise. It's like the motor that assist the steering is too loud

Could be possible there's something worn out, something poorly made.
