Tundra Brown 2016 Q3 - Soon!

4357 Views 11 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  bluemoonshot
After 15 years of Subaru driving, upgrading to the Audi. I've always wanted a beautiful brown, and didn't want to miss out since it's discontinued south of the border.

So few brown ones out there - and wanted the Komfort (don't think it's even available in the states) - not to save $$, but to still have a car that expects me to drive it. After being on trips and renting US small SUVs, the beeping, lane change lights and backup camera made me a bit crazy. Plus, I'm weird and hate climate control. Still has power gate and MMI upgrades. Dealer found one, waiting for it to arrive. Any day!

Got lots of great info here - thanks for sharing!

One question: additional Audi Care (mechanical) beyond the $945 package I'm getting with the car - worth it? From what I understand, covers mainetenance beyond wear and tear/usage (ie not tires, brakes, oil changes, etc). I'm planning keeping the car 6-8 years.

Thank you!

I just bought Audi Care. I plotted out what was included thinking to get prices on each service. They told me the last service at 5 years in the plan was $820 on its own, so I bought. They had priced it at $750 for many years unchanged.

I assume also that shop rates will climb each year.

Not stated outright is that the services are mileage based or one year each, good for me as I will be low annual mileage. I only drove 4500 last year. Retired, you know.... and we have a beater for local stuff and the dogs.

In the end, I know I will be happy for a zero bill each time I go in. Its their way of getting an annual look at the other wear issues obviously, for increased revenue.

Hope that helps.
OOhhh congrats on the brown. That color is really beautiful!!!
My second Audi, purchased a number of years ago, was very close in color to your Tundra Brown….it was as unique then as it is now, and gets a lot of extra looks from car admirers.

I too bought the Audi care for US $750…..after pricing it out, it just made sense. And like boblepp, my wife is now retired and doesn’t expect to drive her Q3 more than about 8,000 miles per year.

But you’ve got to remember to get your car in annually or as soon as it clicks over another 10,000 miles (after the 5,000 mile first check), or your five years will have run out and you will not have gotten what you paid for.
I don't think its a bad idea to get the extra Audi Care package. It does depend how lon you will keep the car, but if you are thinking 6-8 years then it sounds like a good decision.

Any idea when you will have you r new Q3 in your driveway?

First, welcome to the forum, great place here and I hope you find all the stuff you need or want. Btw, Where are you? As far as I know, Tundra was discontinued for the US (about 4 months after Cobalt got the axe in Dec 14) even before the 15s wrapped up production.

I hope you got one though, I have Tundra and it IS a beaut - always get many compliments and NEVER see myself ...>:D
Welcome to the forum and congrats on your Audi - it's definitely a great update. Show it to us when you get a chance. Plenty of knowledgeable and friendly folks here as well as informative and insightful discussion threads. You'll find just about anything you might have questions about there.
Thanks for the advice. I'm in Ontario, so we can still get brown, at least for 2016. We also have 3 option levels (then the same 3 + Quattro, which, being originally from California, is a must for me in our winters). As are snow tires.

I was told the Audi care that 'came with' (i.e. was already on bill of sale, I wanted it anyway) covered all scheduled maintenance to 40k km. After the whole process was over (test drive, negotiation, meet w/ finance rep) I was a bit overwhelmed being told about all the aftercare (paint, door dings, rust protection etc) offers. Don't want any of those, but am still a bit confused about extending that same Audi Care 2-4 more years, as well as how much I should pay. Said I'd decide on delivery.

Everything is a bit more here. Audi Care for first 40k/4yr=$945. How much more should 8yr/120km be? Was originally quoted $3495 - $500 'dealer credit.'

Does this Include all scheduled maintenance, I shouldn't expect any more out of pocket? I drive about 25k km/year. Is the cost negotiable?

Expect it any day now. After driving a dark grey metallic Forester (they're everywhere), it will be fun to have a unique car again. I'm surprised they discontinued it south of the border.

Thanks again!!

Don't confuse Audi Pure Care (maintenance) with Audi Pure Protection (warranty) - they're NOT the same nor inclusive within each other. Neither should be included on your invoice WITHOUT your consent or approval - i.e. they cannot force you to take either. Audi Care is prolly worth it if you drive a lot, but prolly not if you don't. Audi Protection may be worth it either way if you expect to keep the car for longer than the base warranty period (most folks don't, and therefore for them, it's prolly not worth it). The prices for both ARE negotiable and recognize there is about a 16% backend margin on both...

Btw, a few things may be different between the US and Canada, but I think basically they're similar. I can really only speak on US stuff as that's what I know.

You're gonna LOVE Tundra Brown -

So brown is still available in Canada but not the US?

Yes !!
Picked it up last night. Lots of oooohs and ahhhhs from the salespeople - almost every car on the lot is black, white or silver. Most had never seen the brown. It's perfect, I'm super happy!
