On occasion when only driving at highway speeds, I'll get this tapping sound that seems to be coming from the rear right door or pillar. It may be constant for about 5-10min then go away the rest of the time. It will actually go away as I let go of the accelerator.

At first I thought maybe my kids left something in the door storage bin, but everything seems tight and nothing loose. Any ideas?

I also have a VW MKV home and know the fuel line tends to tap at times but doesn't sound anything like that. This sounds like someone if outside the car tapping the door with their finger.

Anyone experience this?

Mine taps also; but in my case it isn't specific to acceleration vs deceleration. I can hear it while coasting and typically over a bump. Still haven't found the source; but suspect it is due to the removable retractable trunk cover. A unlatch, removable, and relating didn't seem to do the trick.
